KABLEHUB is a collection of a bunch of things I make and also links to things that I think are cool.
The background image behind the "KABLEHUB" banner at the top is a screenshot from the video game "Lunacid" by Akuma Kira, a person whose games kind of serve as an aesthetic posterchild for everything I do.
HISTORY OF THE SITE
I discovered this neat little website called Neocities back in 2023. It was full of people making websites for themselves. I didn't care much for the content of the pages, but it was fascinating to me in its own way. It felt like people broke off a part of themselves and put it into their website. They had 'about me' pages, art galleries, blog posts, dedicated "shrines" to all of their favorite characters and games. Conveniently, this discovery lined up with me taking my computer science classes in college and learning about web development.
So, I decided, with a few weeks of experience under my belt... "hey, wouldn't it be cool if I had one of these websites?" And the rest... is history.
History that is not very well documented apart from this "under construction" page that the website was stuck on for an embarassingly long while because I am horrible at finishing projects that I start:
oh my god the undertale font. i was gonna make the whole website the undertale font. wow. (This is also when my design was a lot more simplistic and didn't have pupils.)
As you can see, the first thing I ever made for the website is the random quote that appears on the footer if you have Javascript enabled. I can't point to anything in particular I got the specific idea from, but if anything inspired that generator, it was probably the 'roll ladybug' mechanic that's on the website insect.christmas (not a neocities website). It gave me the idea of the website being ever-so-slightly different every time you revisited the page. Plus, the main thing I like about these kinds of websites is how people put themselves into the websites they make, and a 'random quote selector' from stuff I like is an easy way of putting things I like into the site without having to dedicate a significant portion of time into making whole pages for them. Most of the quotes are from video games 'cause I'm a loser.
